A6M3 vs A6M2 Speed
« on: September 18, 2015, 02:53:28 PM »
Hello! Now Playing new release 0.8.2 with new A6M3 Zero, i'm discovering that  final speed is lower than previous version A6M2... it's so? When I see in the specifications I notice both have the same speed (indicated).

I notice that difference too when I'm doing closer turns and I lose speed sooner..

I wait for your comments! Thanks.

Santiago.

The A6M3 exchanges some maneuverability for a better armament, but there shouldn't be much of a difference in speed.
Good things come to those who wait.

Thanks. Have you tested it in flight? did you notice that difference?

Yeah, I have it. Don't do sharp maneuvers at low speeds and you'll be fine. Not sure if that's historically accurate but that's the way it is in-game.

The A6M3 is historically inaccurate in this game. In real life, it was a bit faster, rolled and climbed faster than the A6M2. In this game, it lost maneuverability and speed, because of the extra weight of the guns.

It also has the engine of the A6M8, the Kinsei-62 (Kinsei-53 in the game). Would this 1560hp engine be able to compensate for additional weight?

another thing is, speed and maneuverability should improve once the 250 kg bombs are dropped. Think?

it does when you drop the fish on the Kate.  you lose the weight and extra drag from the bombs you should pick up a considerable amount of speed and maneuverability..

It would be considered a flight model error.
