Tactical Invasion
« on: January 26, 2016, 02:41:31 AM »
I just wanted to have some fun with some of the DFS or forum members and have a little friendly strategic fight.

So, in a fictional WWII-era battle, multiple nations are forced to find an alternative source of oil and material after fighting for long years without resources. The closest area with an acceptable amount of supplies can be traced to a remote island in the middle of the Pacific. The nations quickly rush over to take over the relatively small island for the smallest bit of supplies they can find.

Create your own invasion force out of WWII equipment, aircraft, vehicles, and ships and invade the island. You can also have a combination of multiple nation equipment (for example, using Japan's A6M3 with the American Essex-class carriers). The battle map is shown below, and will be edited as the battle progresses.

How the game works:
With their invasion force, the player is to decide the actions of their invasion force, commanding the force with free will in accordance to the rules. The movement of their invasion force will be recorded on a battle map and a territorial map. Players will mainly operate off of the battle map, and will take over certain "dots" in order to advance. Units can be dispatched from the main invasion force to take over "dots" or "territories" on the map, and these units will advance through the island. Should a player attack another player's "dot," a battle will ensue between the units in the dot (if there is no unit fortifying the dot, the dot is immediately taken over). In order to take total control of the island, one must take control of the central red dot as well as take control of the majority of the dots on the island. The game will continue until all players' invasion forces (except for the force that has successfully taken over the island) have been reduced to 20%. Invasion forces that have lost 80% of their forces are terminated from battle, unless a small portion of the island still belongs to the player and units are still holding out.
AIRFIELD CAPTURES
Capturing of airfields provide huge advantages, as they allow the constant flow of supplies and manpower into the battlefield and also allow access to the advantage of deploying airbase-based aircraft.

The game will be organized into separate rounds. Each round, an invasion force can move or dispatch a unit once. After every 10 rounds, a battle update will be given to summarize what has happened in the past 10 rounds. I will announce when the next round has started or when the round has ended.

INVASION FORCE:
Your invasion force consists of a total of 120,000 men to use at your own will. Your men can be organized into an air unit, a naval unit, or a ground unit, or whatever you want. Your maximum manpower, however, is 120,000 offensive officers and soldiers. Organize this to your own likings. Some ideas can be dedication to naval forces, dedication to air forces, dedication to infantry, or all around dedication.
ALL EQUIPMENT, INCLUDING EXPERIMENTAL, PERMITTED UP UNTIL YEAR 1945

EXAMPLE:
- 30,000 manpower devoted to naval forces, consisting of:
             4 Yamato-class battleships (12,000 men) with a total of 8 E13A patrol aircraft
             3 Essex-class carriers (9,000 men) of a total of 90 A6M5s (30 per ship), 60 SBD Dauntlesses (20 per ship), and 60 B7A (20 per        ship)
             28 Akizuki-class destroyers (8,000 men)
             1 Baltimore (1,000 men)

- 40,000 manpower devoted to ground forces, consisting of:
18 platoons of M4 Shermans (5 tanks per platoon; 90 tanks, 450 men)
             20,000 standard infantry
             19,550 Marines (for amphibious assault)

- 50,000 manpower devoted to air forces, consisting of:
50 air wings of B25 bombers (75 aircraft each; total 20,000 men, approximately 4,000 bombers)
90 air wings of N1K2 Shiden-kai fighters (75 aircraft each; total 7,000 men, approximately 7,000 fighters)
23,000 men working on transport, cargo, and possibly airfield maintenance (if airfield is captured), enhances battlefield advantages

LATEST ROUND AND TERRITORIAL MAP:

Of course, you can ally up with other players. If you guys are successful, you share the victory.

If you capture airfields, you can temporarily use infantry to act as ground crew. You can then bring in more troops to act as ground crew for the air fields as the infantry continue. Ground crew can also act as defense.
